People of Vathis – Ana: The Analytical Alchemist

Ana is a short and slender human girl with a mess of curly blonde hair atop her head.

Her nose is usually buried in a novel or scribbling in her notebook. Her hands are restless and fidgety. She usually keeps to herself, but at the very least she’ll give a daggered glare if she’s not taken seriously or overlooked (which sometimes happens with her short, tiny statue). Her short-tempered, curious personality sometimes drives her to shoot first, and ask the important questions later. Ana is often seen wearing her over sized dark green trench coat, the pockets of which typically hold her books, scraps of paper, or small vials of potions and various ingredients.

I’ve usually played a character that’s been the curious type, but this is the first time I’ve played more of a tinkerer-type that works with ingredients with their class. Having a lot of patience is a part of my actual personality, so playing a character that has a shorter fuse has been tricky to roleplay, but fun.

Name: Ana Fairwind
Age: 24
Race:  Human
Gender: Female
Height: 5’5″
Weight: 102
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color:  Green
Identifying Marks: Her sigil

History:

Ana Fairwind was born to poor farmers from Vavaire just before the start of the Darkest War. Her Uncle Rhen, an Alchemist with a shop in Isild, occasionally visited them when traveling through town for supplies. The Darkest War happened when she was 10, and soon after people were starting to be rounded up for the infamous Whiterose Experiments. Ana’s parents, wanting to save her, had Uncle Rhen smuggle her out of town and continued to raise her in Isild.

Training:

Ana received training while at her Uncle’s shop. She’d spend most of her days watching over his shoulder mixing ingredients, or running errands for her Uncle.

Day of Sigil Acquisition:

Ana’s sigil appeared at a young age, and soon after Rhen saw potential for passing on the apothecary shop to her.

How a Sigil Changed Her:

Ana was born into circumstances that left her feeling very powerless and weak. Having a sigil gave her hope that she could fight back and actually change things for the better.

How and Why She Become a Wanderer:

Rhen’s apothecary shop burned down after Vandiel cultists attacked it. Ana was luckily running errands at the time and happened to be coming back only to see the building alight in flames. A few of the cultists saw her, and gave chase. After cornering her in an alleyway, Ana managed to fend them off with Veil’s help.  Veil, who purchased countless poisons and potions from her Uncle’s shop in prior years, took pity on Ana and decided that the two of them would be safer together on the run.

Motivations:

Ana wants to bring back her family’s name in the apothecary business, and ultimately she wants to open up a shop of her own. She’d also like to find a way to resurrect her Uncle Rhen, who is presumed dead, and she has been researching resurrection extensively. Overall, a thirst for knowledge would be a huge motivator for Ana.
