Those who know the Kaliriph twins would say that dealing with them is an adventure.

Together the two make a lively and jovial pair. They share the strange habit of either speaking in unison or finishing each other’s sentences, completely unrehearsed. The two are rarely separated, and they’ve relied on each other for most of their lives, though they each exhibit their own quirks and habits that clearly define their personalities. Emmi is significantly less erratic than her brother. Often speaking in facts and figures, she is the more well-read of the two, and she tends to be the one who presents logical answers. Her bookish nature does not stop her from speaking her mind and being heard over her brother when she needs to be, however. Her brother, Brin is the thrill seeker of the two. He is always willing to get up close and personal with things in order to learn more about them. His sporadic plans and actions are only kept in check by the practical thinking of his sister.

Emmi and Brin were born and raised in Vavaire, and their family was tragically killed in an attempt to flee the nation during the outbreak of the Darkest War.

The halfling twins relied on each other, and using a series of secret tunnels they learned about in one of their history books they managed to escape and travel to Darastrix. It was there that they waited out the rest of the war in relative safety. In the years following the Darkest War the twins joined the Eyes of Vathis, hoping to put their knowledge of the ancient world to good use. After completing several surprising missions where they managed to recover lost treasured heirlooms belonging to Vavairen nobility, the two sped through the ranks and became senior members of the Eyes. The two still work for the Eyes of Vathis following up on wild rumors and retrieving lost artifacts.

Relations 

The Kaliriphs have earned their reputations as one of the most successful artifact retrieval teams in the Eyes of Vathis. Despite their small statures and seemingly non-existent aptitude for combat, the twins almost always locate their designated mark. In recent years the Eyes have been sending the Kaliriphs on exceptionally dangerous jobs. So far, they have relied on their vast pool of knowledge of history and the civilizations of old to make it through any situation they’ve found themselves in. There are, however, situations where the Kaliriphs required muscle or aid from those with certain specializations to handle a task. They regularly recruit passing adventurers and mercenaries to help them travel to their marks and retrieve the items they seek.

Goals

Emmi and Brin have an endless love for expanding their understanding of history and ancient civilizations. They jump at any chance to read an ancient text or decrypt hieroglyphs or runes. When it comes to the actual treasures they seek, the two are not greedy, and they fairly split treasure among those they have hired. They are more interested in learning where various artifacts came from and why they were made in the past as opposed to how they can be used in the present. Obviously there are limitations to this philosophy, as they are both still acting agents of the Eyes of Vathis and will confiscate items they deem too dangerous to be of use in today’s world.

The Kaliriphs can be found almost anywhere in the world depending on where rumor leads them. They are generally friendly and more than willing to hire adventurers for jobs if they need assistance. When working with the twins one can almost always expect trouble in some way, but this trouble is typically negated by their generous compensation. Anyone who accepts a job from the pair, be it a strong-arm mercenary or passing traveler, should expect to be taken on an adventure by the Kaliriphs.
